A CHRONOLOGICAL DETAIL OF THE ROT IN OUR CHURCHES

Just as we condemn homophobia and support ‘the rights of consenting individuals to privacy in their sexual relations’, we must also grant far greater attention to the sexual abuse of children. The same zeal and zest that we are fighting corruption in the country is the same zeal and zest that we should fight corruption and sexual abuse in today’s modern church.

Three decades ago, while I was growing up, the Men of God, including catechist, church chairmen, and choirmasters were a disciplined bunch of people who observed and adhered to the principle of dignity and respect to every human being; the young and the old, the male and the female gender, the boys, ladies and women. I don’t recall any cases of molestation, teenage pregnancy and sexual assault by these men of God.

Today, the Men of God have become beasts. Sexual and corrupt beasts who are preying on the young and underage boys and girls. Impregnating and sodomizing them at a rate that needs global and national attention. Lest we forget, let me give you a chronological state of events that will either shock you or leave you wondering why are we not giving attention to this issue of sexual assault by the priest and pastors. Men who ought to be teaching us about the virtues of the Holy Spirit. Men, whom we believe are enthused by the Holy Spirit, and are supposed to be preaching to us about the sixth commandment “Do not murder”, the seventh commandment “Do not commit adultery”, the eighth commandment “Do not steal” and the tenth commandment “Do not covet”. We have buried our ignorance under the sand and pretended that nothing is happening in our churches. We have left our daughters and sons in the hands of hyenas hungry and tougher than the lions that spared Daniel his own flesh. These men of God are openly going contrary to the teachings of the ten commandments stealing from the worshipers, intimately sleeping with our daughters and our wives, having anal sex with our sons and “raising the dead” from death. For how long will we accept to be deceived by these “Men of God”? Don’t we have any existing legal and social infrastructure to report and stop these criminal cases of sexual assault, adultery and corruption in our churches?

INCREASED SEXUAL ASSAULT BY PRIESTS AND PASTORS

Let’s just take a look at the past chronological events where our “Men of God” have been involved, arrested, some prosecuted and others are still dangerously roaming in our estates trying every way to avoid the long arms of the law.

In 2014, a pastor was caught pants down with another man’s wife, who was believed to be a member of his church. What followed next was a thorough beating by the man’s wife who, by this incident, had confirmed his long held suspicions that his wife had been cheating. I clearly understand that an erection doesn’t choose whether you are a pastor, a priest, a civil servant, a student or a doctor. But weren’t we given the dominion over everything by God to choose between the good and evil? If these “Men of God” are sleeping with our wives, then we need not trust our women in church with these same idiots.

In August 2015, Senior Pastor Steve Wafula of Jerusalem Church in Voi organized an evening “worship” in his house and invited dozens of young girls to come fellowship with him. Through my own research from the existing information available to the public domain, Pastor Wafula defiled a 15 year old girl later on that night. He was arrested and prosecuted.

In June 2016, Charles Nyachwara, a former pastor at Kibomet African Inland Church  impregnated a 17 year old girl and later killed her. Are these not the same pastors telling us every Sunday that we shouldn’t kill? Pastor Wafula was trailed by police for five years and arrested while preparing to tie the knot with his Ugandan sweetheart in Mbale town.

In October 2016, a priest serving at Kambaa parish in Githunguri was accused, arrested and aligned in court for organizing sex parties and sleeping with minors. Sexual assault within the Catholic Church and among the catholic priests is not a secret. Recently, in an article published by the Daily Mail Newspaper, Pope agreed to the allegations that Catholics priests are using Nuns as sex pets for their sexual thirst. In the same report, available statistics showed that 50,000 children across the world are fathered by catholic priest. Aren’t these the same men who are supposed to preach to us about the dangers of adultery whilst they maintain their vows of celibacy? Where did we go wrong my readers?

December 2018, a 53 year old pastor in Makueni was arrested for defiling a 13 year old. He was rescued by the police from the public baying for his blood. He is still facing cases of sexual assault and defilement. In November 2018, the courts slapped father Joseph Agutu Obala with 75 years jail term for defiling three minors; two 15-year-old and one 14-year-old teenagers at an orphanage in Kisumu County. Ohhh my God!
In January 2018, father Zachary Nganga of of Gonda Catholic parish in Muranga was arrested over sodomy allegations. He was found with an 18 year old boy in bed in his parish premises. Father Zachary had previously been accused by the villagers of practicing gaysim with minors. In February 2018, an Anglican Pastor in Voi-Taita Taveta was arrested in Mombasa where he had gone into hiding after defiling a 16 year old.

DEEPENING CORRUPTION IN CHURCHES

I am quite sure that the names of Bishop Deya and his wife and still very fresh in your minds and still mumbling them on your lips. The UK based pastor, pastor Deya and his wife are human beings you cannot forget. You remember the miracle babies? These two couples of God were involved in children trafficking in the name of miracle births. Miracle births that they pursued in return of monetary gains for themselves. I thought the only person believed to have given birth through the Holy Spirit is Virgin Mary. Surprisingly, Deya’s followers did not believe this. Who bewitched today’s churches believers? Are the believers void of intellectual incapacity to tell that these kind of stories are just cat and mouse games to swindle them cash?

You remember Pastor Bishop Victor Kanyari? The pastor who, for a long time, coined the 310 slogan and popularized it to steal from the innocent, desperate and hopeless worshipers. How he swindled millions of shillings from the believers through fake and stage managed miracles that were cooked in his house? Interestingly, thousands of his followers were supporting his move saying that their Bishop was a true man who performed real miracles.

Pastor Ng’ang’a, of Neno Evangelism Church is another corrupt thieve. A man who rose from a kibandasik vendor to a multi-million ‘Man of God’ preaching money and stealing from the same congregation through stage managed miracles. His theatrics have no end. Remember the accident he caused under the influence of alcohol killing an innocent woman along Nairobi Nakuru road? Recently you were entertained to a River-hood Movie in his that was recorded live in the full glare of cameras and believing worshipers where he allegedly ‘casted out demons’ from Rose Muhando? Who couldn’t tell that that was a fake exercise?
Now this man from South Africa. And many more that I will not have to mention here to save you the energy of reading a loooong article.

I know the constitution details that every Kenyan citizen has a right to worship and his or her own religion. However, following a summary of the notes above, it’s the early time that the government instituted measures to control the many rogue churches mushrooming day night targeting the poor citizen whilst the owners are living in posh estates and driving high end and state of the art vehicles. We are living in a century that we are not supposed to remain silent about the sexual assaults by these “Men of God”. Will we sit and watch as our daughters are impregnated and infected with sexually transmitted diseases by the same men who are supposed to nurture their religious virtues?  Let’s speak up, stand up for the rights of sexual relations of young boys and girls. Let’s speak and address this rot in churches without the fear of these “men of God”. Let’s advocate for their prosecution.

This chronological detail of events ought to remind you how serious this issue of sexual assault is and the emergency attention that it requires.
