KENYANS, WE CAN DO BETTER TO OUR FALLEN SOLDIERS

Since the broadcast of the pusillanimous, spineless, timid, nerve-racking, barbaric and intimidating assault to our very able men in green soldiers by the Al Shaabab cowards in Somali, I have all along been contemplating and researching on the preeminent way to appreciate not only the fallen soldiers but also those living and serving our country in various parts of this country and out of this country. Agony as grieved me, tears of sorrow have trickled down my chick, the thought of smuggling a gun and trekking to Somalia to fight along these soldiers has all along been lingering in my mind. But unfortunately, my efforts and powers are limited to just a pen, a paper and my thoughts. I hope my thoughts will touch many of my fellow Kenyans.

A wounded Kenyan soldier, center,  is received by military officers
I have to say this to you dear Kenyans; we need to do more than just the # tag thing on the social media platforms. A times it beats my logic and just settles for a mere PR. Not that am opposed to the hash tag #IStandWithKDF and similar previous hash tags that crop up whenever there is a citizen affecting catastrophe, but its because I have a sensation that these ash tags are not in any way beneficial and valuable to our affected people especially our hard working and assiduous brothers and sisters, sons and daughters who risked their lives to defend the sovereignty of this country.

Upon researching and reading on the Soldiers’ Angels, a US citizen-led initiative to provide aid and comfort to the army and their families, I came to a thoroughly well thought conclusion that Kenyans should just go beyond this HASH TAG thing that does not bring help, food, or comfort to our heroes, the men in green. Just like the US Soldiers’ Angles, whose mantra is “May No Soldier Go Unloved’, Kenyans, starting with me and you, should initiate better ways to show love, appreciate and provide help to our both fallen heroes and those who carry on to spend sleepless nights in the bush, the wilderness and war-torn countries to ensure that you and I sleep comfortably in our domiciles enjoying that Mukimo, Managu, Githeri and fried chicken for the haves.

How many soldiers and their families could have gone without reparation after suffering fatalities and death of their loved ones while defending us and our country from the stupid coward enemies? Of course there could be a couple of them. So, as patriotic Kenyans, let’s initiate monetary strategies, food aid strategies, and physical visits or what ever form of strategies to show real affection to our affected soldiers, those who continue to relentlessly fight on the front line and families AND STOP THIS EUPHORIA OF THE HASH TAG #IStandWithKDF. We have before done this better to cancer victims, hunger victims in Turkana, Mt. Sinai fire victims, post violence election IDPs, gender-based violence victims etc. WHY NOT OUT SOLDIERS?

REST IN PEACE OUR FELLOW BROTHERS AND SISTERS
